Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it. ~Proverbs 3:27
I wanted to introduce you to the newest member of our family. She doesn't live with us, she doesn't speak our language, and we haven't even met her. But she is still near and dear to our heart.
Meet Lunise. She's a little 6 year old girl from Haiti that we sponsor through Compassion International.
Isn't she cute?! We chose her for a few reasons. First of all, she's the same age as some of kids. So we can watch her grow as we watch our own kids grow. Secondly, she is from Haiti--a country that our family has had an increasing burden for over these past few years. And lastly, she's got that same spunky hand-on-the-hip pose that our daughters make for photos. Shallow reason to choose a child, I know... :)
Sponsoring Lunise or children like her is very easy. For us, it's the price of one dinner out as a family--just $40 a month. And with that, Lunise gets access to healthy foods, clean water and a quality education. Seems like such a tiny price to pay for a child to escape the cycle of poverty. In return, we get the pleasure of watching her grow and learn about Jesus. And we get the deep satisfaction that comes from obeying God and taking care of those in need. And finally, I suspect we will get a deep dose of gratitude from our sponsorship.
It's going to be a fun journey sponsoring Lunise. It is fun to see our kids get excited about stepping out and helping someone in need. Perhaps you'd be interested in sponsoring a child or two as well?
